JOSEPH PATRICK ROJAS March 27, 1959 – April 22, 2024
Our brother, Joe, left his earthly confines on the early morning of April 22. We are devastated.
Joe is the youngest child of Patricia Mendiola Rojas and Louis Gonzalez Rojas, to us the most devoted parents in the history of the world.
He was born in Los Alamos, NM, the youngest of six children, and grew up in that remarkable environment of education, community, and exquisite natural beauty. His talents ranged broadly, from the strength to move a grand piano to the vision to design living spaces of a home to the creation of verdant gardens. Joe was especially gifted as an artist with a degree in fine arts. His artistic work combined precision, persistence, and careful intention in the creation of geometric images suggesting landscapes, mindscapes and galaxies opening to infinities.
Joe always aspired to creating a personal aesthetic sense and an imaginative quest for adventure. He was sensitive to the complexity of the world around him and aware of the importance of his evolution as a human being. His finest gift to us was the nuanced reminder that we should always open our consciousness to each other and to the natural world around us. At the moment of his departure, a meteor was seen gracing the night sky.
Joe is survived by his siblings, Luis Alfonso Rojas ( Linda Klosky), Ricardo Francis Rojas (and remarkable children Enrique, Jess and Nell), Thomas Charles Rojas, Christina Lucia Wright (Bill Wright), and Consuelo Ann (Chelo) Rojas.
Friends Katie and Jim, Shawnee and Steve, and Linda have all been extraordinarily supportive through this journey. We have great appreciation for the medical staff at Cristus St. Vincent Hospital in Santa Fe, Neil Morrison Jr., and to the staff at Anvion Hospice Care.
