Obituary: Jesse Jr. Lytten June 23, 1929 – April 10, 2015

JESSE JR. LYTTEN June 23, 1929 – April 10, 2015

Jesse Jr. Lytten, 85, passed away unexpectedly on Friday April 10th 2015 with his beloved wife Shirley Lytten by his side. He had his daughters, Donna Jean Young and Suzanne Waterbury there as well. Several of his immediate family members were waiting. Jesse was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Jesse met Shirley Anne Benson in Washington, D.C. while he was serving in the United States Navy. They met on a blind date and were married September 15, 1951. They were blessed with three daughters, Donna Jean, Darlene Marie and Suzanne throughout the next five years.

In 1959 they traveled by car from Washington, D.C. to Los Alamos to begin their new life. Jesse came to Los Alamos to work as a machinist. Shirley was a homemaker. Jesse worked at the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory until his retirement. During his retirement he enjoyed working as a grounds keeper and golfing at the Los Alamos Golf Course. He continued that for several years.

Jesse was an avid sports lover. He excelled at all sports he played. He played basketball and football in high school and college. He bowled in several leagues throughout the years. Played slow pitch softball and even caught a few times with the Pierotti’s Clowns. He taught his children and grandchildren his competitiveness and determination to excel in everything they were to do in life.

Jesse is survived by his life partner Shirley Anne, daughters Donna Jean Young (Larry) of Albuquerque and Suzanne Waterbury (John) of Los Alamos. He is also survived by granddaughter Christina Trujillo (Justin), grandsons Daniel Waterbury (Courtney), Jason Waterbury (Valerie) and Ryan (Natasha) Trujillo, Kirsty Bramlett, Ryan Young (Carla). He is also survived by 10 great grandchildren with a new great grandbaby on the way.

The family would like to thank all that worked so diligently to help during our time of need. This includes the Los Alamos County Fire Department and EMT’s, the Los Alamos County Police Department and the Los Alamos Medical Center ER and 2nd floor personnel. Also all employed at Los Alamos Medical Care Clinic. Not just a medical office but our “friends”.

The family has entrusted Daniels Family Funeral Services in Albuquerque with all arrangements. Cremation has already taken place. Per Jesse’s wishes, no services are planned. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to “Friends of the Shelter”, P.O. Box 455, Los Alamos, NM 87544. If you wish to leave a condolence, please visit www.danielsfuneral.com.
