JEAN C. JONES July 8, 1948 – Jan. 13, 2018
Jean C. Jones passed away on January 13th due to complications from ALS. She passed in her home, with family present.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Jones and survived by her two sons Glen and Robert, her three grandchildren, and her sister Susie Malone.
Jean was born in Los Angeles, California to Walter and Dorthy Langenberg. She was raised in North Hollywood where she married Kenneth Jones. She moved to Los Alamos in 1970, earned a bachelor’s degree from UNM, and ran an accounting business also in Los Alamos.
Jean had a love of hiking. Active in several hiking clubs, she spent much of her time on the trails of Los Alamos. She said that one of her best hikes was the very last one she took in the forest accompanied by her grandson just a few months before she passed away. In the 1980s, she was a volunteer for the Ski Patrol. She was active at the Los Alamos Senior Center. Other hobbies included baking bread, traveling, visiting family and taking photos of grandchildren.
She was a member of the Los Alamos Christian Science Church. Jean loved the people there and enjoyed the music on Sundays.
We would like to thank all of the friends, neighbors, and the community for helping this kind and gentle lady to live independently and to participate in the activities that she loved.
