Obituary: Harold B. Davis Aug. 20, 2016

HAROLD B. DAVIS Aug. 20, 2016

Harold B. Davis, age 86, a resident of Los Lunas, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016.

Harold was born a few weeks before the start of the great depression. It is said that people who grew up in these times came from “Hearty Stock” and he was no exception. Harold was a generous and loving father, husband and friend but he was also “Tough as Nails” with a “Soft Marshmallow Center”. As strong and determined as he was, Harold succumbed to a sudden illness and passed away in a very short time, which was a shock to all who knew and loved him.

Harold was married to his wonderful wife, Shirley, for nearly 60 years. Shirley preceded him in death approximately 6 months ago. He is survived by his Grandson, Nathan, Son Ricky and Daughter-In-Law Kathy, Brother Gerald and many nieces and nephews.

Harold loved many things in life. His favorite pastimes were flying personal aircraft, good food, friends and family.

Harold was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving in the United States Air Force as a Sergeant on the mechanic crew for B36 bombers. Harold went to work at the Lab in Los Alamos in the early 1960’s when it was run by the Atomic Energy Commission. After his first round with the Lab he purchased an airport in Kermit, Texas and then worked for the Federal Aviation Administration until later returning to, and retiring from, Los Alamos National Laboratory.

His last place of residence was the Airpark in Los Lunas. He loved and appreciated so many of his neighbors and friends that he made there.

We need to celebrate Harold’s long and happy life. Harold is smiling down on us from Heaven now. We pray he is at peace.
