Obituary: Hansjörg ‘Jorg’ Jansen June 6, 2023

HANSJÖRG ‘JORG’ JANSEN June 6, 2023

It is with a great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the unexpected and sudden passing of our beloved husband, best friend and 62 year companion Hansjörg “Jorg” Jansen who left us on Wednesday June 6, 2023.

Jörg grew up and was educated as an electrical engineer in Germany. Brigit, his wife, grew up and was educated as a chemist in Switzerland. They both came to the US in 1960 and 1959 respectively, for one year, out of curiosity. Their common life started in 1961, when they got married in Rockport, Mass.

They lived in Magnolia, near Gloucester, and worked at Transitron Electronics in Wakefield. Then moved to La Jolla in California, where Jörg worked at General Atomics until 1986. In between they spent one year in Santiago in Chile, where Jörg taught at the University. Afterwards, he worked at Maxwell Labs until they moved to Los Alamos in 1975. Both worked for the Los Alamos National Laboratory and retired in 1997.

They joined La Secoya in April 2022.

Jörg is survived by his beloved wife: Brigit Jansen (nee Gerber) and families in Germany, France and Switzerland.
