GEORGE SCOTT FITZGIBBON Nov. 10, 1977 – June 4, 2024
Scott Fitzgibbon, 46, of Ruidoso and Los Alamos, New Mexico, was killed by a drunk driver and died at the scene of the accident on June 4, 2024, around 9 p.m. on N.M 48 near Shasta Place in Lincoln County, NM.
Scott graduated from Los Alamos High School in 1996 where he was very involved in Olions and choir. In high school he spent his free time climbing the rock faces around Los Alamos and White Rock and kayaking.
He went on to UNM and majored in voice. He sang with the Santa Fe Desert Chorale during his time at UNM. He met and married Reni Roberson who was getting her master’s degree in voice. They were both involved in theatrical productions at UNM and in the last few years they founded OSO Productions, a theatrical production company in Ruidoso, NM. OSO Productions recently produced the Lincoln Forest Renaissance Faire in Ruidoso and over 5,000 people attended this Renaissance fair. It was a huge success and expected to become a yearly event in Ruidoso.
Scott hand crafted musical instruments and spent 3 years making a ukulele for his brother Jimmy who was suffering from cancer. He played the bagpipes and loved to find others who played the pipes.
He is survived by his wife Reni Fitzgibbon and his sons Alaisdair and Jaimeson of Ruidoso, his mother Sally Fitzgibbon of Los Alamos, his mother- and father-in-law Dana and Gary Roberson of Sandia Park, his brother-in-law Jon Roberson, his aunts and uncles James and Eva Fitzgibbon of Rio Rancho, Teresa Fitzgibbon and Harrison Schmitt of Albuquerque, Steven and Ann Rudy of Tesuque, Mary and Rick Laub of San Clemente, California, Kathleen Fitzgibbon of Green Valley, Arizona, Bill and Ruthie Maxey of Albuquerque, Osborn and Hope Hardison of Palo Alto California, Agnes Hardison-Sanchez and Paul Goldberg of Deerfield IL, Laura Williamson and Dan Sigelman of Chevy Chase MD, Sarah and Tom O’Connor of Harrisonburg VA, Matt and Beth Hardison of Vienna VA, Marifrancis Hardison of Virginia, Pat Fitzgibbons of Virginia and many cousins.
Scott was preceded in death by his father Francis J. Fitzgibbon (Joe) of Los Alamos, his brother Jimmy Caruthers of Costa Mesa, California, his grandparents Elinor and Jim Martens of Albuquerque and grandparents Francis and Nancy Fitzgibbon of Los Alamos, and his aunt Scotty Fitzgibbon of Las Cruces, and uncle Chris Fitzgibbon of Los Alamos.
Scott’s life will be celebrated in a memorial in Ruidoso on August 24.
