GEORGE ALLAN MATTYS Dec. 12, 1955 – May 23, 2017
George Allan Mattys, 61, native and resident of Los Alamos, New Mexico, passed from this life in his sleep on Tuesday, May 23, 2017. During his careers in New Mexico, George worked for Los Alamos National Labs, TRK, and Plateau Property Management. He also worked as a cabinetmaker and carpenter for a time in Colorado.
George loved the outdoors and the mountains, and the beauty, simplicity, and serenity of nature, and spent much time exploring, camping, and photographing its detail and wonder.
He was funny and sometimes irreverent, but always such a gentle soul and he left an indelible mark on those he touched. His love and friendship was cherished by many, and he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his brothers Joe, Jon, and Jerry, daughter Tiffany, granddaughters Taylin and Jocelyn, cousin Terry Lee, several nieces and nephews, and many friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters Jean and Paula.
A celebration of George’s life will be held at New Beginnings Church, 112 East Road, Los Alamos, New Mexico, on Saturday, June 17th, 2017, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM. Please come and bring a memory and a story to share.
