DANIEL L. COMSTOCK June 21, 1952 – April 2, 2022
Daniel L. Comstock, a long-time resident of Los Alamos and employee of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), passed away unexpectedly in April. He was 69.
Dan worked as a librarian for most of his career, first in the Denver public libraries and later in Los Alamos as the librarian for LANL’s photography collection. A native of Ohio, he was a graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College (Ohio) and received his master’s in librarianship from the University of Denver.
Dan was a devoted friend of libraries and a strong supporter of local animal humane groups. After retirement, his most memorable moments were spent driving through New Mexico’s mountainous and scenic landscapes, an experience he found mystical. He was a devotee of books, American classic movies, and early American television programs.
Dan had an extensive knowledge of LANL’s important photo collections. He worked collaboratively and tirelessly with LANL staff and with those from other museums and institutions to fill their requests for loans of materials suitable for exhibition. His dedication to his work and to his colleagues advanced LANL’s education mission in important ways.
Dan will be cremated, and his ashes spread in a private ceremony.
The family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Rivera Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
