Obituary: Catherine Elizabeth Gubernatis Dannen

CATHERINE ELIZABETH GUBERNATIS DANNEN Dec. 19, 1976 – March 6, 2018

It is with great sadness that the family of Catherine Elizabeth Gubernatis Dannen announces her passing, on Tuesday, March 6th 2018, in Montgomery, AL., at the age of 41 years. Catherine’s passing was a result of complications stemming from treatments associated with battling cancer.

A native of Los Alamos, and Los Alamos High School Class of 1995 Graduate, Catherine attended Mount Holyoke College of South Hadley Massachusetts for undergraduate studies. She then went on to earn a Master’s Degree and PhD in English Modernism from The Ohio State University in Columbus Ohio.

Catherine completed a post-doctoral appointment at Tulane University in New Orleans Louisiana, afterwards accepting an appointment as a tenure track faculty member at Alabama State University in Montgomery Alabama.

Catherine will be lovingly remembered by her husband Patrick Dannen of 10 years, her children Alex (5) and Zach (3), her parents Michele and James Gubernatis, and her brother David Gubernatis.

A mass in memory of Catherine will be held on Saturday March 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m., at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 8570 Vaughn Road, Montgomery, AL 36117.
