BRIAN WAYNE EMKEIT Aug. 20, 1941 – Aug. 19, 2022

We are sad to announce the passing of Brian Wayne Emkeit of Los Alamos, New Mexico. He fought a long hard battle with prostate and bone cancer.

Brian died at the age of 80 on August 19, 2022, just 12 hours before his 81st birthday.

Brian was born on August 20, 1941, in Oakland, California. He grew up in Nyack, New York. He served two years as a Merchant Marine and got a teaching degree at the University of New York. Brian taught for several years in Tuba City, Arizona, and Safford, Arizona. He returned to school and received a degree in civil engineering from the University of Arizona and worked at the Phelps Dodge Copper Mine.

He met Pat, who later became his wife in June 1978. In 1983 they moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico. Brian worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory as a civil structural engineer for 24 years. He was very passionate about model railroading and serving God. 

He passed away with loved ones and caring nurses by his side.

He is survived by his two sons Brett and Lief Emkeit, and two daughter- in-laws Ashley and Autumn Emkeit, and 5 grandchildren Grace, Evalyn, Evan, Levi, and Logan Emkeit.

Services will be held on Friday August 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Bryce Avenue Presbyterian Church at 333 Bryce Avenue, White Rock, NM 87547. A viewing for family and close friends will be at 9:00 a.m., graveside service for family and close friends at Guaje Pines Cemetery at 11:30 a.m., and luncheon at Bryce Avenue Presbyterian Church at 1:00 p.m.
