BERT CLIFFORD PLUMLEY Jan. 9, 1930 – Feb. 13, 2015
Bert Clifford Plumley passed away 10 years ago on Feb. 13, 2015. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Glenedith Plumley.
Bert was born Jan. 9, 1930 in Pear, W. Va., to Lola Pansy and Clifford Plumley and grew up in Beckley, W. Va. He was a disabled Navy Veteran.
He was married to Glenedith Fluty Oct. 16, 1953. Bert and Edith left Beckley to make their home in Albuquerque, NM, until his retirement from Sears and then traveled around the US in their motor home. They loved the adventures, especially to Alaska and made many friends along the way. He loved fishing, reading, gardening, playing with his grand and great-grand kids and being outdoors. He enjoyed panning for gold, especially in Colorado.
Bert would drop anything to help a friend, neighbor or someone he’d just met as well as make sure they were well fed and took extras home for later.
His family: Glenedith preceded him in death 10 months earlier after 60+ years of marriage.
His children are Donna Brubach, Debra Doty-Newell and son-in-law Bill Newell and Michelle (Val) whom he considered an adopted daughter. Grandchildren: Amanda Ostler (Bryan), David Thomas Meyer (Jessica) and Michael Newell (Morgan).
Great grandchildren: Cody (Kendra) and Cory (Amber) Reid. David Allen Meyer (Jina). Kendall (Victoria), Karlee and Kenzie Ostler and MagnoliaRain Meyer.
Great, great granddaughter Carter Reid and a second great, great granddaughter due in June 2025 Georgeanna Meyer.
Siblings Betty Jane Bennett (Daris) ,Barbara Bazzie (Joey), Bonnie Helton (Jim), Bobby Dale Plumley (Brinda). Henry Fluty (Lois), Bill Fluty (Lois). Chet Fluty, Pauline Fluty (Clel), Macil Preece (Claude) and many nieces and nephews he loved dearly.
His friends were a big part of the family and he appreciated each one of them.
Finally, Buddy the Poodle. His best little friend and partner in crime.
He was many things to a lot of people and all things to a lucky few.
