BARBARA E. HOLDER July 1, 1941 – April 23, 2023
Barbara Holder, entered her heavenly home to be with Jesus April 23, 2023. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, and was a long-time resident of White Rock.
Barbara was born in Freeport, Illinois. Her family moved to Albuquerque, when she was 11. After graduating from Sandia High School, she earned a B.A. in English from UNM. She married Denny Holder in 1962.
In 1971, they moved to Los Alamos where she was very active at White Rock Baptist Church and worked for LANL.
After retirement, the Holders moved to Green Valley, AZ where she actively served in the E-Free church and in the establishment of Grace Church of Sahuarita, AZ as a founding member. Barbara lived life to the fullest leading women’s ministries, Bible studies, reading, traveling, walking, golfing, and visiting grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by James Denny, her husband of 61 years, daughter Kari of Green Valley, AZ, son KC and wife Nicole, and her three grandchildren William, Arimae, and Jayme of Marquette, MI. She is also survived by her three brothers, Bob Fawver, Jim & Dian Fawver, and Dave Fawver.
The family will be holding a graveside service at Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos, at 2 p.m. May 2 and a memorial service at Grace Church of Sahuarita, AZ at 10 a.m. May 20. In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to Samaritan’s Purse (www.samaritanpurse.org).
