ALAN R. BERRY July 24, 1940 – October 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Alan R. Berry (known as “Al” to most) a long term resident of White Rock, NM.

Alan was born on July 24, 1940 to parents Elmer and Alice in NE Wisconsin. He graduated from Shawano Senior High School and did his undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. He completed his Masters and PHD studies in metallurgical engineering at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

He worked a few years at 3M Central Research in St. Paul. His next 15 years were spent at Rocky Flats Arsenal, Colorado, in the production of nuclear weaponry for Dept. of Defense. After Rocky Flats closed he moved on to Los Alamos National Laboratory to further refine our nuclear arsenal for the Dept. of Energy. After 15 years he retired from that facility.

Alan always loved the outdoors and engaged in all aspects of hunting, fishing, gun collecting, shooting and downhill skiing. He took these activities seriously with numerous trips to Africa, Alaska and local states to seek game. He was so proud of trophy hunting that he built a large trophy room onto his home to display his many successes.

Alan is survived by his brother Collins (Pamela), nephews Dennis and Chad and niece Bobbi.

He was successful in making a significant contribution to our national defense effort by his work in deterrent weapons development. He will be greatly missed by many.
