Nuclear Museum To Host 29th Annual Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Festival May 2

Join the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History for a day of fun celebrating the culture and influence of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Hosted at the Nuclear Museum with activities from 10 a.m.–3 p.m., Saturday, May 2, the annual Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Festival will allow guests to explore the museum and enjoy cultural performances, music, exquisite Japanese floral arrangements, and intricate Chinese art.

The event is hosted in partnership with the Sandia National Laboratories Asian Leadership Outreach Committee.

“We are delighted to host this inspirational day,” said Jennifer Hayden, President and CEO of the Nuclear Museum. “We believe that engaging with the rich history and culture of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders in various activities at this event can educate, connect people, and ultimately provide a day of fun.”

Through the continuing support of the, Chinese Cultural Center, Lin’s Martial Arts Academy, BK Taiko, ABQ Chinese Folk Dance, ABQ Chinese Prospect Academy, NM Chinese School of Arts and Language, Ichiyo School of Ikebana, Albuquerque Chapter, Ikebana International, Chapter 41, Chinese American Citizens Alliance Youth Dance Troupe, Hindu Temple Society of NM- Nrityasudha, Trupthi’s Dance Company, Blackmans Taekwondo Academy and Lili Xiao, visitors will be treated to performances including traditional dance numbers, Chinese martial arts, origami, Chinese calligraphy and paper cutting, Japanese Taiko drumming and much more.

Visitors can taste traditional Asian food samples provided by Talin Market. Food and treats will be available to purchase from Kimo’s Hawaiian BBQ, Eat Cute Bakery, and Bing Tea.
