November Is National Adopt A Senior Pet Month

SFAS News:

The Santa Fe Animal Shelter announced that they are waving the adoption fee on all senior pets in November for Adopt a Senior Pet Month.

November is National Adopt a Senior Pet Month, and the Santa Fe Animal Shelter is working to make sure every senior pet finds a home!

The fee-waived adoptions include all dogs six years and older and all cats nine years and older under their Love is Ageless promotion.

“The surprising secret is that older dogs offer a lot of benefits to potential new families,” says Murad Kirdar, the public relations officer for the Santa Fe Animal Shelter. “Most senior dogs are already housebroken, don’t require the constant monitoring that puppies and kittens do and are usually trained, yet they are still trainable if you want to teach them a new skill.”

Santa Fe Animal Shelter who is northern New Mexico’s largest open-admission, no-kill shelter, will hold its Love is Ageless promotion at the shelter’s main campus, located at 100 Caja del Rio, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

“Senior pets seem to know they’ve been rescued and are being given a second chance in life,” Kirdar said. “New families often notice an extra special sense of love and appreciation from their adopted senior pet.”

The Love is Ageless promotion runs until November 30th at the Santa Fe Animal Shelter.
