Northern New Mexico College And Los Alamos County To Host Energy Conservation Code Training For Professionals May 2, 2024

Northern New Mexico College and Los Alamos County are hosting a workshop on energy conservation codes for professionals in the building industry, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, May 2 in Council Chambers at the Los Alamos Municipal Building.

The workshop titled “Sustainable Education for Advanced Buildings: Energy Conservation Code Training for Professionals” aims to provide valuable insights into energy conservation codes, focusing particularly on the changes introduced in the IECC 2021 and its local amendments in New Mexico. Intended for building officials, architects, contractors, and others interested in the built environment, attendees will gain an understanding of the purpose and structure of these codes, as well as various pathways to meet the requirements.

“By equipping professionals with the knowledge and tools to navigate energy conservation codes effectively, we aim to drive positive change towards more energy-efficient buildings,” Los Alamos County Plans Examiner Michael Marquez said.

The workshop, funded by New Mexico Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Department, will include informative sessions, networking, and lunch.

Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be provided to participants, further enhancing the value of this educational opportunity.
