NCRTD News:
ESPAÑOLA — The North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) is announcing key service improvements to its Blue Bus™ routes, effective Monday, April 14. The changes include the reinstatement of three dedicated routes that will enhance connectivity for tribal communities and restore service to Los Alamos County, which had been suspended due to labor shortages in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“These route restorations are a vital step forward in reconnecting communities across the region,” NCRTD Executive Director Anthony Mortillaro said. “By restoring direct service to Los Alamos and improving transit options for Santa Clara Pueblo, Pueblo of Tesuque, and Pueblo de San Ildefonso, we are addressing long-standing needs and fulfilling our mission to provide a resilient, equitable, and effective public transportation system.”
New Route Structure (Effective April 14):
- Route 160 Santa Clara
Restored service between Santa Clara Pueblo, Española, and Santa Fe
Monday–Friday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m. - Route 220 Tesuque
Connecting Pueblo of Pojoaque, Pueblo of Tesuque, and Santa Fe
Monday–Friday, 6:40 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. - Route 230 San Ildefonso
Providing access between Pueblo of Pojoaque, Pueblo de San Ildefonso, and Los Alamos
Monday–Friday, 6:22 a.m. – 7:05 p.m. - Route 500 Tribal Combined
This temporary route will be suspended to make way for the reinstated individual routes that offer more direct service.
Why These Changes Matter – These updates are designed to:
- Enhance access to essential services such as medical care, shopping, education, and employment in Santa Fe and Los Alamos
- Improve connectivity for Pueblo de San Ildefonso residents traveling to Los Alamos
- Restore direct service for Santa Clara Pueblo and Pueblo of Tesuque riders traveling to Santa Fe
The updated route structure reflects the District’s ongoing commitment to providing inclusive, community-focused transportation solutions that adapt to regional needs.
