We thank all those who organized, helped execute, and attended the peaceful, highly successful Los Alamos “No Kings 3.0” Rally. It’s difficult to influence the Trump regime, but if we stand up to be counted, we can together exert significant power. We hope the momentum from the No Kings rallies will inspire others and influence the midterm voting.

For those who want the bottom line with minimal elaboration, here it is. Recall that the No Kings 2 attendance was 480 plus or minus 20 people. The official attendance for No Kings 3 is 667 people plus or minus 12. Both counts include about 10 minor children (but not babies). The Los Alamos rally involved about 3 percent of the County’s residents, though we welcomed some people from other areas, as well. Ours was one of about 3,000 protests over the whole United States, with an estimated total participation of 8 million people.

The local NK3 counts were obtained from two high-res images taken about 3 minutes apart, one late in the speaker’s session and one early in the crowd’s movement towards Trinity Drive. Counts were manual (by a person), facilitated by Dot-Dot-Goose, a program created for animal population counting by Peter Ersts of the Center for Biodiversity and Conservation.

If you want still more details (heaven forbid!), contact bill.mead@ansr.biz.

During NK3, some concerns were raised about the use of drones. The drone flights were performed with great attention to safety and within FAA guidelines. No images have been released that could be used for facial recognition. The organizers would have alerted attendees if an unknown drone had appeared.

Thank you again to all who participated.
