NNSA Los Alamos Field Office News:
NNSA’s Los Alamos Field Office (NA-LA) has approved proposals by San Ildefonso Services to install a fiber optic line, and for Los Alamos County to replace a waterline.
These lines would be located within Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) Technical Area 72 and the New Mexico Department of Transportation rights-of-way for N.M. 4 and N.M. 502. The waterline and fiber optic line would be collocated for a portion of their length.
The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) is conducting an environmental analysis for the fiber optic line and is anticipated to publish a separate Categorical Exclusion.
NA-LA coordinated closely with NTIA on the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analysis and on commitments to perform mitigation actions required by this determination. Routine coordination meetings with Los Alamos County include discussion on mitigation actions related to county work on DOE property.
