NMSP: Large Pressure Ridges Formed In Ice Force Changes To Lake Access At Eagle Nest Lake State Park

NMSP News:

New Mexico State Parks, a Division of the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department, announces Eagle Nest Lake is closed to ATV traffic, effective immediately.

In addition, the Six Mile Day Use Area is closed. Ice fishing is limited to the main area of the lake due to dangerous ice conditions.

Large pressure ridges have formed in the ice creating open water, weak spots and hazardous conditions. Pressure ridges that have been identified are being marked with cones, but anglers are warned to be aware that not all hazards may be marked.

As a reminder, State Parks are open for day-use to New Mexico residents only.

All current park information can be found on the State Parks Division website.
