NMSP: Crash Kills Pedestrian In Bernalillo County

ALBUQUERQUE At about 11:19 p.m., June 23, the New Mexico State Police investigated a pedestrian fatally struck by a vehicle on Central Avenue NE near Espejo Street NE, in Albuquerque.
 
The initial investigation indicated a 2017 GMC pickup driven by an 18-year-old male of Albuquerque was traveling west on Central Avenue. For reasons unknown, pedestrian Fermin Silago, 42, of Church Rock ran northbound across the roadway of Central Avenue. Silago was struck by the GMC. He was transported to the UNM Hospital in Albuquerque where he succumbed to his injuries. Silago was pronounced deceased at the UNM Hospital.
 
The driver of the GMC, who will not be named, was not injured in the crash. The driver did not appear to be under the influence of alcohol and is not facing charges at this time. No additional information is available.
