HCNM News:
SANTA FE — Healthy Climate New Mexico is pleased to invite the public to our Town Hall for Governor and Lieutenant Governor candidates of both parties, 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 4, at the CNM Workforce Training Center, 5600 Eagle Rock Ave NE, near Alameda and I-25 in Albuquerque, New Mexico 87113.
Doors open at 6 for networking and information tables, and the Town Hall is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.
“In 2026, New Mexico voters will elect a new governor. As we approach the primaries, it is critical that voters are aware of the candidate’s plans to safeguard our communities’ health against the climate changes we are already encountering,” says Healthy Climate New Mexico Executive Director Shelley Mann-Lev.
New Mexicans are increasingly aware of the health threats posed by extreme weather events, including heat waves, wildfires and smoke pollution, and flash flooding, all caused and worsened by climate change. Candidates for the offices of Governor and Lieutenant Governor are all invited to participate and many have confirmed they are to do so. Some candidates will be represented by “surrogates.”
Healthy Climate New Mexico is sending questions to the candidates questions in advance of the Town Hall. The public will know each candidate’s campaign was provided substantial time to develop their responses about protecting the health of New Mexicans in the face of extreme weather and our changing environment. Candidates or their representatives will be asked the same questions during the event.
HCNM is a non-partisan organization and does not make endorsements or otherwise support candidates. HCNM’s vision is a healthy, equitable, sustainable future for all New Mexicans. HCNM’s mission is to mobilize New Mexico healthcare and public health professionals to advocate for climate solutions that protect health and promote equity.
