NM State Police Conducts Successful Warrant Operation

EDDY COUNTY — On Aug. 22 and 23, 2025, the New Mexico State Police, in partnership with the Administrative Office of the Courts, conducted a Safe Surrender and warrant round-up operation in the Carlsbad area.

The Safe Surrender program was designed to give the public an opportunity to resolve outstanding warrants voluntarily. The operation was carried out in two parts. Part One focused on Safe Surrender, where defendants were able to voluntarily appear before New Mexico Magistrate Courts on both scheduled dates to comply with their court orders. Part Two, conducted on Saturday, August 23rd, consisted of a warrant enforcement operation led by New Mexico State Police officers from the Uniform Bureau, Crime Suppression Bureau, Special Operations Bureau, and Investigations Bureau.

Safe Surrender Operation yielded the following results:

  • 87 Outstanding Warrants Cleared
  • 24 In-person Safe Surrender Cases heard
  • 61 Virtual Safe Surrender Cases heard
  • 2 Other Warrants Cleared

The NMSP Warrant Operation yielded the following results:

  • 7 Arrests
  • 2 Booked into custody
  • 2 Arrested on new misdemeanor/felony charges
  • 5 Released/Released on their Own Recognizance by a Judge.

Targeting outstanding warrants is a critical step toward enhancing public safety in New Mexico. Operations like this will continue throughout the year as part of our ongoing commitment to enforcing the law and safeguarding our communities.
