NM Museum Of Natural History & Science 2026 Ekphrastic Poetry Awards April 26

In celebration of National Poetry Month, head to the newly remodeled New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science at 1 p.m., April 26 for a free, jam-packed poetry celebration!

2026 Ekphrastic Poetry Awards and El Palacio Spring Issue Reading. This two-part event will celebrate the winners of the 3rd Annual New Mexico Ekphrastic Poetry Contest, which celebrates the best poetry inspired by artwork from around the state. These winners will be joined by contest judges and poets, including New Mexico Arts Executive Director Michelle LaFlamme-Childs, Museum of New Mexico Press Erin Adair-Hodges, and current New Mexico poet laureate Manuel González, along with local favorites Hakim Bellamy, Lauren Camp, and Kathryne Lim.

This is a free event, co-hosted by El Palacio magazine and the Museum of New Mexico Press.
