LAMC News:
Los Alamos Medical Center (LAMC) has announced a new addition to its women’s health clinic. Janet Sandy, FNP, is a Family Nurse Practitioner who came to the community a year ago to serve as a travel nurse and made the decision to stay as a permanent resident. She said that she is looking forward to seeing both new and existing patients.
“When I arrived in Los Alamos a year ago, I was brought together with a group of extraordinary people serving Los Alamos Medical Center as dedicated nurses, nurse practitioners, physicians, and locums providers on the OB unit. Strong friendships were formed around a common desire and awareness for the need for consistent quality care for the women in Los Alamos,” Janet said. “There is a strong sense of community that is special here but can also present its own challenges. I am thankful to have the opportunity to serve the women of Los Alamos and surrounding communities in this capacity.”
As a mother of three grown children and grandmother of three “amazing grandchildren”, Sandy is an advocate for strong families and traditional values. She specializes in women’s healthcare; women’s exams, pap tests, reproductive issues, sexual health, and breast screening and detection are just a few of her specialties. Appointments may be made with Sandy by calling 505.661.9201 or visiting losalamosmedicalcenter.com.
Sandy knew early on that women’s health was a topic of interest to her, she said. She obtained a Master of Science degree in Nursing at Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio. She completed her residency at Kettering Health Network, in Dayton, Ohio and completed a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kettering College of Medical Arts.
Sandy first came to the area in February 2021 and said she fell in love with the area’s abundant sunshine. Outside of serving her patients and the community, Sandy said she enjoys travel, gardening and discovering the beauty of Northern New Mexico.
