COMMUNITY News:
The holiday season is synonymous with spending money – but for more than just buying gifts.
According to Nonprofits Source, hundreds of millions of dollars are raised for charity on Giving Tuesday alone, which is just a fraction of the billions of dollars Americans donate each year.
In a recent study, financial technology company SmartAsset dug into IRS data to find the places where residents were giving the most. The study measured how much people donate as a percentage of their net income and the proportion of people in a given county who make charitable donations.
Los Alamos County ranked among the most charitable in New Mexico.
