Los Alamos resident Jib Bennett established a new 501(c)3 organization, For the Animals, to support the Los Alamos County Animal Shelter.
For the Animals will solicit and collect donations for the Los Alamos County Animal Shelter.
Donations to For the Animals are tax deductible and are spent exclusively to benefit animals in the local animal shelter. Los Alamos County Animal Shelter Manager Paul Sena said donations collected by For the Animals will be used to pay for extraordinary medical expenses for shelter animals, supplies and to otherwise benefit Los Alamos shelter animals as needed.
“We’re excited about the organization … it works directly with the shelter … this gives you an avenue to donate to the needs of the shelter. We’re excited to have them,” Sena said.
For the Animals also can help coordinate fundraisers proposed by individuals as well as community and school groups.
To contribute to For the Animals for animal welfare and shelter animals’ quality of life, send donations to For the Animals, P. O. Box 160, Los Alamos, NM 87544.
For the Animals is not affiliated with Friends of Shelter and Companion Animals (FOSCA) nonprofit organization that sponsors the annual Dog Jog, Posse Shack breakfasts, rescue animal calendars and other fundraisers for animals. FOSCA works with rescue groups and pet owners in Los Alamos and northern New Mexico to promote low-cost spay and neuter of pets and to help pet owners and rescue groups with the costs of catastrophic medical care of pets in need. FOSCA can be contacted at P. O. Box 455, Los Alamos, NM 87544.
