New Mexico State Police Investigates Shooting In Socorro

SOCORRO — The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Investigations Bureau was called to investigate a shooting Oct. 31, near the Circle K at California and B Street in Socorro.

Investigators learned that at around 11 p.m., the Socorro Police Department was called to the Circle K for an individual who was having a verbal dispute with customers and employees at the Circle K. The dispute turned physical, and it was reported that at least one shot was fired.

Officers arrived and found the individual, who reportedly had been arguing with customers and clerks, in his vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. After being shot, the victim appears to have crashed his car into a light pole near Circle K. The shooter suspect(s) had already fled the scene in a white sedan. The victim was transported to an area hospital and airlifted to a trauma center. His condition and extent of injury are not known. No other injuries were reported.
