New Mexico State Police Investigate Officer Involved Shooting in Espanola

NMSP News:

New Mexico State Police (NMSP) report that at about 10 a.m. Sunday, two Espanola police officers responded to the area of Riverside Drive and Corlett Road in Espanola to the report of a suspicious person.

They made contact with the person and the person and during the contact the person produced a weapon and pointed it at the officers. One officer fired his weapon, striking the person.

The person was transported to the hospital and later pronounced dead. He is identified as Victor Villalpando, 16, of Espanola.

The incident is under investigation.
