NMSP News:
The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Crime Suppression Bureau (CSB) continues to combat major crime problems around the state.
The Bureau has units focusing on interdicting drug shipments, dismantling drug trafficking organizations, apprehending outstanding fugitives, and arresting auto theft offenders.
In addition, multiple agents within CSB are part of multi-agency task forces with federal and local partners.
From Oct. 1 to the end of December 2023, members of the NMSP Crime Suppression Bureau have been making arrests and seizures throughout the state.
During that time, their activity includes the following seizures and arrests:
- Felony arrests 196
- Stolen vehicles recovered 19
- Firearms seized 38 (includes 1 ghost gun and 4 stolen)
- Methamphetamine 12.079 pounds
- Fentanyl 3.71 pounds
- Cocaine 269.34 pounds
- Crack cocaine 23.8 grams
- Psilocybin mushrooms 3.8 grams
- Marijuana 119.7 grams
- Heroin 6.6 grams
- THC wax 2 pounds
- Xanax 15 grams
- Suboxone 3 grams
- Prescription pills 924
- Traffic citations 523
“The New Mexico State Police are committed to keeping drugs and guns off our streets. Arrests and seizures like these will continue to occur to reduce the devastation guns and drugs are having on our New Mexico Communities,” NMSP Chief Troy Weisler said. “We will work tirelessly every day to bring resources and actionable solutions to combating issues of gun violence, violent crime, and illegal drugs in our state.”
