Education News:

SANTA FE — During Tuesday’s State of the State address, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced that New Mexico’s public schools can re-open under hybrid format at the discretion of their local school or governing boards.

Many of New Mexico’s approximately 330,000 students have not been able to attend school in-person since the initial school closure was announced 10 months ago.

“This is an important step forward in making sure that every student and family has the option to choose what is best for them, whether that is in-person instruction at their local school or continuing to learn in a virtual setting,” said Amanda Aragon, executive director of the education advocacy non-profit NewMexicoKidsCAN. “It is our hope that superintendents and charter school leaders use this opportunity to prioritize the needs of their most vulnerable students while working to return all students to the classroom.”
