New Mexico Opens $5 Million In Tech Grants

NMEDD News:

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Economic Development Department’s Technology and Innovation Office has opened two new grants to support technology commercialization and entrepreneurship.

The $5 million initiative includes two funding opportunities:

Innovation Hubs Grant ($2.5 million available)

This program provides funding to develop, expand, or improve physical spaces that foster innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology commercialization, including shared workspaces, equipment and laboratories, and collaborative environments.

Entrepreneurship Programmatic Support Grant ($2.5 million available)

This grant supports the operational needs of entrepreneurship-focused organizations in New Mexico, including incubators, accelerators, and venture studios. The goal is to help these organizations launch, expand, or support programs and services that advance innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology commercialization.

Both grants require proposals to support technology commercialization or entrepreneurship in the sectors of advanced computing, advanced energy, aerospace, and bioscience.

“These grants represent a significant investment in New Mexico’s innovation infrastructure and system programing,” Nora Meyers Sackett said, director of the Technology and Innovation Office (TIO). “By supporting both physical spaces and programmatic initiatives, we’re creating a comprehensive ecosystem where entrepreneurs and innovators can thrive.”

TIO will evaluate proposals and may award either a single applicant or multiple applicants for each grant based on the strength of proposals and requested funds. All funded activities must be completed within 12-months of the grant agreement.
