OCD News:

SANTA FE — The Oil Conservation Division (OCD) of the Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department (EMNRD) will host a virtual Rapid Hire event this month.

The 12-5 p.m. Dec. 15 event will be held via Zoom.

The OCD is seeking qualified candidates for 13 positions related to orphan well plugging, remediation and reclamation, administration, legal and more. The position descriptions and necessary qualifications are available on the New Mexico State Personnel Office website.

The OCD regulates oil and gas activity in New Mexico. It gathers oil and gas well production data, permits new oil, gas and injection wells, enforces the Division rules, develops administrative orders to which operators are subject, enforces the State’s oil and gas statutes, ensures abandoned wells are properly plugged and that the land is responsibly restored once production activities are done.

The OCD’s goals are to promote balanced, consistent, fair and transparent regulation of the oil and gas industry, to prevent the waste of oil and gas resources within the state, to protect the correlative rights of resource owners, to foster efficient development, and to protect human health and the environment.

“This is a great opportunity to work with the OCD to regulate the oil and gas industry in New Mexico and facilitate orphan well plugging, remediation and reclamation,” Adrienne Sandoval said, OCD Director. “We need motivated, dedicated people willing to commit their professional efforts to supporting New Mexico’s responsible development of oil and gas.”

The OCD is partnering with the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (DWS) to host the virtual Rapid Hire events. Advance registration for virtual interviews is required. Register now at this address.

Registration closes at 12 p.m. Dec. 14. Once registered you will receive an email with instructions on how to submit your resume, school transcripts, and other required documents.
