SANTA FE – October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, and the New Mexico Office of Broadband Access and Expansion (OBAE) is participating in this global initiative to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity and online safety.

In an era of increasing digitalization, cybersecurity is paramount. The prevalence of online threats, data breaches, and cyber-attacks underscores the need for robust cybersecurity practices.

As part of Cybersecurity Month, OBAE is dedicated to educating individuals, businesses, and communities about the best practices for staying safe online.

On OBAE’s website, you can find a portal with educational videos and tips aimed at enhancing cybersecurity knowledge. Topics covered include password management, phishing awareness, secure online transactions, and protecting sensitive data. The goal is to empower individuals and organizations with the knowledge and tools necessary to safeguard their online presence.

“OBAE is committed to fostering a culture of cybersecurity awareness,” OBAE Public Information Officer  Alison Riley said. “As our lives become more intertwined with technology, understanding the risks and implementing effective cybersecurity measures is crucial. We are excited to engage with the community and share valuable insights to enhance online safety.”

In addition to educational initiatives, OBAE will also be releasing informative articles, infographics and social media posts throughout the month to disseminate cybersecurity tips and best practices.
