New Mexico Medicaid To Hold Public Meetings For Input On Behavioral Health Needs

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Health Care Authority is hosting three public forums to gather input on how the state can better support individuals with serious mental illness, severe emotional disturbance, substance use disorder, or brain injuries. 

Public input will inform the Behavioral Health Assessment and Feasibility Study report, which will be published in January 2026.  

Medicaid members, providers, stakeholders, and interested parties are encouraged to attend one of the upcoming virtual public meetings to learn more about the study and share feedback. Zoom webinar login information will be sent upon registration. When completing your registration, please select the session that most closely aligns with your role.  

  • Providers and Managed Care Plan Listening Session: noon to 1 p.m. MST, Dec. 9. 
  • Individuals, Family Members, and Caregivers Listening Session: 9:30–10:30 a.m. MST, Dec.10. 
  • Tribal Partners Listening Session:  12–1 p.m. MST, Dec. 11.

Written public comments may be submitted by email to stakeholdercomment@manatt.com by 5 p.m. MST, Thursday, Dec. 11. Respondents are encouraged to share their perspective on areas of strength in New Mexico’s current behavioral health system, gaps in the current system, changes they would recommend, and any other thoughts relevant study.
