SANTA FE — The New Mexico Film Office announced Thursday that the TV series “Roswell, New Mexico” will return to New Mexico to film its third season.

Filming will take place October 2020 through April 2021. The show is produced by Warner Bros. Television and NM Talent Inc., and will film in Santa Fe, Las Vegas, Albuquerque and Madrid.

“Roswell, New Mexico Season 3 is injecting thousands of dollars into the New Mexico economy, as well as employing hundreds of New Mexican crew members. It’s great to have Warner Bros. and the entire team back for a third season of the show,” said Alicia J. Keyes, Cabinet Secretary, New Mexico Economic Development Department.

The production will employ approximately 275 New Mexico crew members and 2,200 New Mexico background and extras.

“We are happy to welcome Warner Bros. back for a third season of Roswell, New Mexico. New Mexico’s treasure trove of locations and large, talented crew base supports television shows like Roswell to return and shoot season after season in our beautiful state,” said New Mexico Film Office Director  Amber Dodson.

The show’s stars include Jeanine Mason (Grey’s Anatomy), Nathan Dean (The Originals, True Blood), Michael Vlamis (New Girl), Lily Cowles (Antebellum), Tyler Blackburn (Pretty Little Liars), Heather Hemmens (Yellowstone), Michael Trevino (The Vampire Diaries), and Amber Midthunder (Legion, Hell or High Water).

Roswell, New Mexico is from Amblin Entertainment, My So-Called Company, and Bender Brown Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, with executive producers Christopher Hollier (Once Upon a Time), Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries), Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey (The Americans), Lawrence Bender (Pulp Fiction) and Kevin Kelly Brown (Roswell).

Roswell, New Mexico is based on the Roswell High book series, written by Melinda Metz.

After reluctantly returning to her hometown of Roswell, New Mexico, the daughter of undocumented immigrants discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush, who is now a police officer: He’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life. She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance.

All film and television productions in New Mexico are required to adhere to the state’s operative emergency public health order, associated public health restrictions and COVID Safe Practices. Those restrictions include but are not limited to the adherence to indoor occupancy maximums, the maintaining of a six-foot distance between individuals, wearing masks at all times, daily disinfection, symptom screenings, and more.
