Secretary of State Candidate Maggie Toulouse Oliver

NEA–NEW MEXICO News:

Conducting fair elections is the number one priority for Secretary of State candidate Maggie Toulouse Oliver. Based on her demonstrated integrity and expertise as County Clerk in New Mexico’s largest County (Bernalillo), NEA-New Mexico enthusiastically recommends her for the position of Secretary of State.

“We know the Secretary of State’s duty to provide for fair elections is critical to advancing the cause of public education, and there is no one better suited for the position than Ms. Toulouse Oliver,” NEA-New Mexico President Betty Patterson said.

“All across our state, teachers make a difference in children’s lives,” Toulouse Oliver said. “My own teachers in Albuquerque Public Schools taught me about the civic process and helped me understand the value of civic engagement. Now, I’ve dedicated my career to increasing access to the ballot and ensuring accountability and transparency in state government. I am thankful for the support I received from my teachers when I was in school and I am grateful today for the support of all of the New Mexico educators who are members of the National Education Association.”

Toulouse Oliver is prepared to bring to all New Mexico voters the progress she’s made in Bernalillo County protecting the voting process and ensuring impartial elections. She is nationally recognized for effectively using technological innovations to make elections more accessible while improving the integrity of the election process.

Prior to serving the people of Bernalillo County, Toulouse Oliver spent more than a decade working to support a variety of issues, candidates, and national and local organizations. She was raised in Albuquerque, attended APS schools; received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Spanish and a Master of Arts in Political Science from UNM.
