COUNTY News:Under contract with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities, Paul Parker Construction will work on a section of natural gas pipeline as part of the N.M. 502 roundabout project.
Work will occur early in the week on the south side of N.M. 502, east of the intersection at Canyon Road.
Gas will be purged from the line several times between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 5 and Tuesday, Aug. 6.
According to department officials, individuals near the area may small natural gas and hear loud noises during the purging procedure. Vehicle traffic may be stopped for short periods of time to minimize any potential sources of ignition.
Purging is necessary to safely release gas out of the line into the atmosphere so work may be conducted safely. The procedure is performed under strict federal regulatory standards and is safe.
Questions or concerns may be directed to the DPU through the Customer Care Center, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday at 505.662.8333 or CustomerCare@lacnm.us.
