NFB News:
The At Large Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind of NM will be having a fundraiser at the Bathtub Brewery at 12 p.m., Saturday Oct. 11.
We will be selling hamburgers, brats, and hotdogs. There will also be a cakewalk, face painting, bake sale, auction items, NFB merchandise, a braille booth, and live music by local musician Bob Manzanares. There will be free face painting and pumpkin decorating. You do not want to miss out on the corn hole toss tournament and be the lucky winner with “bragging rights.”
A portion of the beer sales will go to the NFBNM. $5.00 per person or $10.00 per team. And remember, purchase a 50/50 raffle ticket Winner keeps half of the pot.
Here is a list of what we support in New Mexico and what we believe in as members of the NFB:
- Sponsor a 2-week summer program for blind NM children ages 4-12, free of charge
- Donate to the NM college scholarship
- Financially support parents of blind children so they can attend the National Convention and network with other parents
- Help offset the cost of transportation needs, and there is always a need.
This event has always been well supported by this community.

NFB Belief Message
The National Federation of the Blind advances the lives of its members and all blind people in the United States. We know that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. Our collective power, determination, and diversity achieve the aspirations of all blind people.
“Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.” – Helen Keller
