Museum of Indian Arts & Culture to host May installment of the Native Narratives Speaker Series featuring Cara Romero (Chemehuevi) and Kaela Waldstein, 1-3 p.m. Saturday, May 18 at 710 Camino Lejo in Santa Fe.

“Cara Romero (Chemehuevi): Following the Light”- A film by Kaela Waldstein. The film will be followed by a discussion about photography and film with Cara and Kaela.

Cara Romero (Chemehuevi) is a contemporary fine art photographer. An enrolled citizen of the Chemehuevi Indian Tribe, Romero was raised between contrasting settings: the rural of the Chemehuevi reservation in Mojave Desert, Calif. and the urban sprawl of Houston, Texas. Kaela Waldstein was born and raised in San Francisco and applies the talents she has developed over the course of her life to the craft of filmmaking.

Engage with contemporary Native American art and storytelling through the lens of photography and film. This event promises to be both enlightening and inspiring, offering a rich educational experience through the intersection of art, film and Native American cultural narratives.
