Murder, Mystery And A Surprise Engagement During Saturday’s Performance Of Clue: On Stage At LALT

Audiences received an extra sweet surprise when Ray Rankin proposed to Julie Grey during the Saturday evening performance of ‘Clue: On Stage’. Rankin entered the stage as ‘Mr. Black’, and cast member Holly Robinson (who portrays Yvette in the show) called ‘Mademoiselle’ Grey up to join him. After Grey accepted Rankin’s proposal of marriage, Robinson led the couple to a red velvet couch in the front row, from which they enjoyed the rest of the show. Rankin said the play is based on one of Grey’s favorite movies. He also said that the couple met online.‘We chatted on the phone for several hours every day for two weeks, talking about our lives, our love of novels, and sci-fi,’ he said. After their first official date lasted seven hours, ‘I knew she was special,’ Rankin added. ‘I didn’t want to leave her.’ ‘Clue’ continues at 7 p.m. Thursday (special discount for students) and 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Los Alamos Little Theatre Performing Arts Center, 1670 Nectar St. Photo by Jessica Cowan
