COURT News:

The National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NCJFCJ) has appointed Los Alamos Municipal Court Judge Alan Kirk to serve on the Curriculum Committee for 2018-2019.

The misson of the NCJFCJ is to provide all judges, courts, and related agencies involved with juvenile, family, and domestic violence cases with the knowledge and skills to improve the lives of the families and children who seek justice.

Two of the main goals of the NCJFCJ are to improve the standards, practices, and effectiveness of the nation’s courts handling juvenile delinquency, family law, dependency, and domestic violence cases; and, to provide training for judges and other professionals who serve in these courts. Participation on committees within the organization is vital to the work of the National Council and those it serves.

“It is an honor to receive the appointment and I look forward to working on the Curriculum Committee helping to shape learning opportunities for judges around the country and the programs they serve,” Judge Kirk said. “This is an opportunity for me to represent Los Alamos and all New Mexico Municipal Judges, highlighting the incredible progress we have made within our juvenile justice system.”
