MOUNTAIN SWIM CLUB News:
The 2024 New Mexico Swimming Long Course State Championships July 11-14 at New Mexico State University Outdoor Aquatic Center in Las Cruces.
For this season, Mountain club had 24 qualified swimmers for the championships. It entered 21 of them with 110 individual events and 21 team relays.
The club’s swimmers finished 4th place as a team with 456 points.
Here are results of all New Mexico teams at the championships. Plus, the Mountain Club earned the 2024 New Mexico Swimming Long Course Team Spirit Award at this meet.

It was challenging for the entire club (swimmers, parents, officials and the coach) to compete in the meet:
- We had to sit through the extreme hot weather and officiate the meet under the sun.
- This was the first time for most of our swimmers to participate in a meet outdoors.
- The championship meet was 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. for 3.5 days.
- On top of their individual events, all the swimmers also swam team relays. Some swimmers did four races in one morning and came back for the three finals and a team relay in the evening.
The club finished the meet with the fantastic result without 15 and older age group swimmers.
Special thanks to club officials: William Dai, Laura Leitner, Michelle Certik, Isabel Cuesta, Yaping Huang. The boys of these ladies (Zdenek C, Magnus L, Javier C and Justin L) were the champions for the Boys 12 and younger 400M Free relay at the championships.
