Boys’ Basketball
BELEN – The Los Alamos Hilltopper boys’ basketball team finished in third place at the Hub City Tournament at Belen High School. The ‘Toppers beat Mission Achievement and Success Charter out of Albuquerque in the first round by a 69-23 score to advance to the winners bracket.
The ‘Toppers ran into a strong 6-A Manzano team, also out of Albuquerque, losing a very tight contest 71-65. The Monarchs ended up winning the Hub City Tournament over host Belen.
In the third place game, Los Alamos faced another 6-A team in the Mayfield Trojans and won 68-56 to bring home the bronze.

Los Alamos returns to action in Albuquerque this week against two of the top metro area teams. First on Thursday, the ‘Toppers face the #5 5-A team St. Pius. On Friday, the ‘Toppers take on #9 6-A Eldorado. Both away games start at 7 p.m.
Girls’ Basketball
ALBUQUERQUE – The Los Alamos Hilltopper girls’ basketball faced an uphill battle at the Joe Armijo Tournament on the Albuquerque Academy campus last weekend. The ‘Toppers took on the top ranked 6-A team in the Las Cruces Bulldawgs in the first round, but were outmatch in a 70-26 loss.
The ‘Toppers faced another top 10 ranked 6-A team in the second round, losing to Cleveland High 58-29.
In the seventh place game, Los Alamos outpaced host and district rival Albuquerque Academy on their home court to win 47-35.

The Lady ‘Toppers return to action Tuesday, hosting the Hope Huskies at 7pm. On Thursday the ‘Toppers will host St. Pius at 7 p.m. before traveling to Artesia Saturday to take on the Bulldogs in a 3 p.m. tilt.
