At six years old, Miliana Lovely Baca was crowned Mini Miss Latinita, for the San Juan Pueblo, in April. She now heads to the statewide competition is July.
The Aspen Elementary student, who enters first grade in August, has two hard working parents, doing their best as LAPS employees, to benefit the community children, each day. The family hopes to raise $500 to cover pageant travel, purchase a formal dress and prepare cultural regalia to represent the Pueblo of San Juan.
Mom Tiffany says that Miliana is quite excited about the upcoming competition and, “Ready to rock the show.” Baca will have two wardrobe changes including an elegant gown and the presentation of cultural dress, as part of the program.
The statewide competition is 1-3 p.m., Sunday, July 15 at the Bank of America Theater in Albuquerque. The doors open at 12:45 p.m. at the National Hispanic Cultural Center.
The young beauty queen, with a heart of gold and a smile to match, loves to sing, dance and draw, loves the color blue and loves to use her imagination.
Baca was surrounded by family for her first competition in April, and plans are for her grandma, grandpa, an aunt, uncle, dad and baby brother to be there for the next level. How did winning the first round feel for a first-time contestant? “I loved when I was given my crown and sash by my dad and grandfather,” Baca said.
Miliana is excited about the upcoming competition and looks forward to seeing all of the young ladies in their dresses.
