CHAMBER News:
Metzger’s Do It Best Hardware in White Rock will be holding a grand reopening 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, May 13 to debut and celebrate the completion of the store’s significant renovations that have taken place over the past several months.
This includes remodeling to improve the shopping experience for its patrons, new heating and air units, product and store layout and several exterior improvements as well.
As part of the reopening celebration, hotdogs and brats will be served at 11 a.m. (while they last!), followed by a ribbon cutting with the Los Alamos Chamber of Commerce and cake at 1 p.m.
“On behalf of myself and Metzger’s owner Greg Metzger, we invite everyone to come see the improvements made at the White Rock store and celebrate this milestone investment with us,” David Jolly said, General Manager of Metzger’s. ”We also encourage the community to shop locally at the other great small businesses in White Rock.”
With Mother’s Day around the corner, Jolly said he wants to remind everyone to explore his other small business neighbors in White Rock for gifts and special treats, including offerings from Little Studio on the Mesa, Seeking Chameleon, Pig & Fig Cafe, 420 Tea Time (21+), Rigoberto’s and others. Metzger’s will also be holding a Mother’s Day sale the weekend of the grand reopening, so the community can pick up spring gardening tools and supplies as well as seeds, plants and more.
Metzger’s was first established in Los Alamos in 1947 before opening a location in the temporary village of White Rock in 1950. The store later closed, along with the initial township of White Rock, but was revived in 1973 when White Rock was reborn as a permanent community. Over several decades, the ownership of Metzger’s changed within new generations of the Metzger family. After the retirement of Lee Metzger, Jr., the business was purchased by Greg Metzger, grandson of business founder Lee Metzger, Sr.
What has not changed is the dedication Metzger’s has had on the communities of Los Alamos and White Rock in its more than 70 years in operation locally.
