COUNTY News:
Construction begins Jan. 21 at Mesa Public Library to restore and enhance the exterior of the building. One of the planned projects is to remove and replace the existing siding that has faded over time. Three sections are being replaced; the largest section can be seen near the front entrance facing south. The second project being undertaken at this time is to fill the cracks in the veneer of the building. The cracks do not affect the structural integrity of the building but need to be addressed to prevent further damage to the exterior of the building. Both projects are expected to be complete by March 31.
For more information, please see the presentation (https://losalamos.granicus.com/player/clip/3813?view_id=2&redirect=true) on this project given to the Library Board July 8, 2024.
During the project the library remains open, and all scheduled events held. Library users may experience noise inside the library near the construction areas. Parking may be limited, and the public is encouraged to park in the overflow parking lot between Mesa Public Library and Fuller Lodge. Much of the work by the contractor is overhead and on the roof so the public is urged to be aware and to stay clear of all construction areas marked by orange cones.
Mesa Public Library opened at its current location, 2400 Central Ave., in Oct 1994. The building with a footprint in the shape of a bird, el pajarito, was designed by world renowned architect Antoine Predock.
