Author Christine Vo
LIBRARY News:
The Los Alamos Public Library is hosting a special author talk from 6-7 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at Mesa Public Library. Christine Vo will share the story of her family, the personal relationship she has with her father’s birthplace, and the genesis and challenges of co-writing a book.
The dual memoir “My Vietnam, Your Vietnam” by Christine Vo and Nghia M. Vo weaves together the stories of a man who fled Vietnam in 1975, and his daughter who returns a quarter of a century later.
These narratives, just one generation apart, reveal how the shadow of war and the light of cultural inheritance ripple through generations. The memoir speaks to the complexity of identity, the weight of silence, and the journey toward understanding across time and distance.
Vo is a writer living between New Mexico and California. She works in development for Stanford University. Previously, she worked for international organizations in Vietnam and Switzerland and also ran a floral design business in San Francisco.
This author talk, at the 50th anniversary of the fall of Saigon, honors Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month at the library. “My Vietnam, Your Vietnam” is available to borrow at Mesa Public Library. Attendees can also purchase a copy at the May 15 event, to be signed by the author.
This event is free and open to the public. For more information or to find more library programs, visit LosAlamosLibrary.org or contact the library at 505.662.8250.
