MEOW WOLF News:
SANTA FE — Locals are invited to downtown Santa Fe for Meow Wolf’s 2023 Monster Battle, the friendly-freaky dance party where fantastical creatures from other worldly realms meet.
Produced in partnership with Lensic360, the clash takes place at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, when monsters, mutants and freaks of nature descend upon the Santa Fe Plaza to battle for the best dance moves. Community members are encouraged to wear their cutest, scariest, DIY-est creature attire and get down to mixes of one of the city’s most beloved creature-Djs, Meow Wolf’s Snaggy as well as Spoolius and The Muse.
This family friendly event is a great opportunity to gather as a community, enjoy free live music on the plaza, and meet monsters from another dimension.
“What’s better than creative expression through self-adornment? We invite our fellow Santa Feans and Burqueños to create the most outlandish costume they can conjure. Come traverse the Multiverses as a monster or robot or fairy or alien. The most creative costume wins a trophy created by a Meow Wolf artist. And bragging rights,” Kate Daley said, Meow Wolf’s Sales and Marketing Sr. Manager.
Don’t have a monster costume? We got you.
A free Costume Creation Station will be set up in Meow Wolf Santa Fe’s new Rainbow community room 3-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 19. Swing by and make a bedazzled lizard tail, recycled material cape, an art shield, or other costume components. Creativity is required. Reservations or tickets are not.
The first Monster Battle took place in 2008 as Meow Wolf founders began their journey in Santa Fe prior to the inception of the House of Eternal Return. Artists fabricated unique costumes representing various creative creatures that “battled” with humans to override their anarchy as they flooded the plaza.
