PEEC News:
Join the Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) for a Summer Family Evening 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 21 at the Los Alamos Nature Center.
This event will be a double Summer Family Evening and feature both reptiles from the American International Rattlesnake Museum and adult and baby goats from Second Bloom Farm and Gypsy Mountain Ranch. PEEC thanks the Del Norte LOV Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Del Norte Credit Union, for sponsoring Summer Family Evenings in 2021.
Director Bob Myers of the Rattlesnake Museum in Albuquerque will have rattlesnakes and other animals from the museum for the audience to see up close. Attendees can ask health and safety questions about snake bites, learn about snake identification, and hear some reptile stories while viewing the different animals.
Plus, PEEC also has rescheduled its Summer Family Evening featuring goats for the same night! The portion of the event will take place in the picnic table area behind the nature center parking lot. Learn about the lives of goats and what they need to live happily on the Pajarito Plateau, sample goat milk and check out goat products for sale in the PEEC gift shop for this one night only.
PEEC encourages participants to arrive between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to avoid crowding and long wait times to see the animals. Masks are required for unvaccinated attendees, including children under 12 years old.
Summer Family Evenings take place Wednesdays in June and July. All events are made possible by the generous sponsorship of the Del Norte LOV Foundation. Learn more at peecnature.org/events.
